Can you make a birthday cake without using an oven or stove? Our IB students recently took on the challenge during a ‘Fireless Cooking’ CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) activity. This hands-on experience is more than just about food; it’s about teamwork, resourcefulness, and the "Creativity" pillar of the IB program.
At IISJ, we believe in nurturing students who are not only academically strong but also practical thinkers and collaborators. Seeing our students engage in these life skills with such enthusiasm is what makes our community so special!

IISJ Gives Back to Community…❤️
As part of the Annual IISJ Food Drive, students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 once again came together to support our Japanese neighbors, continuing a valued tradition of giving back to the community. Organized each year by the IISJ Student Council, this initiative reminds students that education extends beyond academics to include empathy, responsibility, and social awareness.
This year’s efforts were especially impactful. IISJ Tokyo students were commended by Koto-ku officials for their largest donation to date: the food will be distributed to low-income families, children’s cafeterias, and other social welfare institutions in need of food. Meanwhile, IISJ Yokohama students were warmly welcomed at a local welfare kitchen that has come to rely on our annual food drive.
What a meaningful way to end the year—by helping others and strengthening the bonds within our community. We are proud of our students for carrying this tradition forward and making a lasting, positive impact.
