Parent Information

In partnership with the Director of the School and staff, the Parents Association (PA) encourages interaction between family and School, serves as a source of support, and works with teachers, staff, and the community at large to improve our children's educational experience. The PA sponsors a variety of cross-cultural programs and social functions, and raises funds for the school.

The PA:

• Coordinates programs and projects that will support or enrich the curriculum
• Assists with increased awareness of School safety and security issues
• Organizes fundraising efforts to support programs, equipment, and services
• Recruits and coordinates volunteer efforts to staff PA functions and assist with School programs

Parents with children currently enrolled at IISJ are automatically members of the PA. We invite you to take advantage of the many educational, cultural, and fundraising events throughout the year and to use these great opportunities to socialize, volunteer, and learn as you connect with other parents.

Because we firmly believe that engaged parents make for a successful School life, we expect all parents to volunteer their time at IISJ. We have two on-going volunteer opportunities:

SCHOOL BUS MONITOR

Bus Monitors are responsible for the general supervision of all students on our transportation vehicles. For more information, please contact the School Office.

STREET CROSSING MONITOR

Many of our students come to School by public transportation and, as a result, have to cross busy streets during peak traffic hours. Crossing Monitors are responsible for making sure these students safely cross the streets around the School.

Other volunteer opportunities
