School facilities impact learning in profound ways. For our students, school facilities affect health, behavior, engagement, learning, and growth in achievement. At IISJ, we are proud to be able to offer:

We believe that students develop a love for books from an early age. From Caldecott winners to Newbury winners, our collection of books is continually re-stocked with the latest bestsellers for every age group. Along with English books, we also loan out Hindi storybooks, as well as reference material.

Because English books are hard to come by in Japan, parents are welcome to check out books as well. We feature the works of many contemporary writers including Jhumpa Lahiri, Salman Rushdie, and Toni Morrison.

Science Lab

The main purpose of laboratory work in science education is to provide IISJ students with conceptual and theoretical knowledge to help them learn scientific concepts, and through scientific methods, to understand the nature of science. Laboratory work also gives the students the opportunity to experience science by using scientific research procedures. At the same time, it should encourage the development of analytical and critical thinking skills.

Gym class teaches students the basics of living a healthy lifestyle and reinforces the importance of staying active. During PE, students learn the skills necessary to establish a fitness routine that they will carry with them into adulthood. Many students do not have the means, willpower or self esteem to stay active on their own. Luckily, IISJ’s fully equipped school gymnasium affords them the opportunity to be active for 30-60 minutes a day during school hours.
