Welcome to IISJ Secondary School

IISJ Secondary school comprises of IX and X Grade. There has been a dramatic change in education policy of CBSE at this level. It has introduced a new scheme of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation from academic session 2009-2010.

According to this, an academic year has been divided into two terms. The first term is from April – September and the second term from October – March.

The CCE in classes IX & X is intended to provide holistic profile of the learner through evaluation of both Scholastic and Co-Scholastic areas spread over two terms each during two academic years.

Evaluation of Scholastic areas

Each term has two Formative assessments and one Summative assessment for evaluation of Scholastic areas.

Formative Assessment

Formative assessment is used by the teacher to continuously monitor student progress in a non-threatening and supportive environment. It can improve student performance tremendously while raising the self esteem of the child and reducing the work load of the teacher. Formative assessment is diagnostic and remedial, which provides effective feedback to students, allows for the active involvement of students in their own learning, enables teachers to adjust teaching to take account of the results of assessment and recognizes the profound influence that assessment has on the motivation and self-esteem of students, both of which are crucial influences in learning. The Formative assessment is being done through quizzes, conversations, interviews, oral testing, visual testing, projects, practicals and assignments during the classes. This year there will be only two Formative assessments for Class IX for the second term. Assessments done periodically will be shown to the students/ parents so as to encourage continuous participatory improvement.

Summative Assessment

The Summative assessment is the terminal assessment of performance at the end of instruction. Under the end term Summative assessment, the students will be tested internally based on the following criteria.

  • A pen-paper test conducted by the schools at the end of each term.
  • In order to cater to difference in the pace of responding, the School will give flexible timing to the students during end term Summative assessment.
  • Evaluation of answer scripts will be done by the school teachers themselves on the basis of the Marking Scheme provided by the Board.

Evaluation of Co-Scholastic areas

In addition to the Scholastic areas, co-scholastic areas like Life Skills; Attitudes & Values; Participation & Achievement in activities involving Literary & Creative Skills, Scientific Skills, Aesthetic Skills and Performing Arts & Clubs; and Health & Physical Education are also to be evaluated as the Report Card will reflect both Formative and Summative assessment of second term of Class IX in scholastic as well as co-scholastic areas.

There are opportunities galore for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Students are taken out on ,educational trips to museums, etc at regular intervals. The after-school clubs keep our students happy even after a long day of schooling and they provide a great platform for overall growth of the individual. Students can join any of the following clubs.

  • Cricket club
  • Soccer club
  • Basketball club
  • Table Tennis Club
  • Drawing club
  • Chess Club

The students of Class IX undergo the CCE spread over two terms, the first one from April to September and the second one from October to March.

For IISJ students of Class X Board examination is not compulsory since the students will be entering Class XI in the same school. Students who will be moving to another school are required to take CBSE board examination.

Secondary school timings are from 9:00 am to 3:50 pm. Bus service is also available for these students.
